Im still in planning mode. Somebody make up my mind. Cherokee scalper or a mountain man patch knife.
-
I say go with the scalper you know something you can use in everyday life
-
My sentiments exactly! ^^
-
Mountain man patch knife, I love that design
-
Make them both then pick the one you like best and I will take the reject off your hands

I am sure whatever you choose it will be a nice one.
-
Little teaser, I'm not sure if this will be the knife. It is not taking the edge I want. The handle is something I have wanted to try for awhile. I'm going to bring it up to temp again, and see how it goes

Hey rick we have the same display counter it seems
:) How about that! That's the professional grade kitchen counter display ;)
-
Sorry to hear about your wife Rick. I have been going through about the same. That is why mine was finished so quickly. Trying to keep my mind in other places. John, I still haven't sent it. Plowing snow and all nighters in the ER have made my brain a little mushy.
-
Thanks Jo She had a total knee replacement, shes fine just lots of Physical therapy to do.
-
OK
I have my blade finished forged with dual hammered finger guards as well as a tapered tang.
I forged close to finished shape so only a couple minutes on the belt sander was required to get the profile where it is at now.
gonna finish at right around 7 3/4 o.a.l.
time to drill the pin holes set the bevels and flatten the tang.
I hope jo5h approves.

Sorry country i made some room
-
I am still a bit new to knife making, but I have finished the one going to Wildman. I hope he likes it.
The blade is Georgetown Flint from Georgetown, TX. The handle is Bois D'Arc known to have been cut over 130 years ago. The glue is Loctite Epoxy with charcoal added for color. The sealer on the wood is Polyurethane. There is no stain or coloring added to the wood. I'll put it into the mail tomorrow morning.

HOLY COW!!!!!!! Chippentuff that is one cool shank.
-
I received my box from Chippentuff today, a true work of art. Thank you!!! I will be down to the wire on this one as I am my own worst critic. I have turned out two blades and feel they were not up to par as far as my best work.
-
Shipped This morning. Should be in Utah Thursday. 8)
-
Can't wait. Still haven't shipped mine. When it rains it pours. I'll get it out at the end of the week.
-
Tyke,

-
I'm just waiting on pay day. It is still sitting in my truck from the day I attempted to send it out... Like a month ago. Sorry John. :-\
-
Hope to get mine finished this weekend.
-
Antique thresher blade I secured from DP and some burled walnut, with a scrap of Ky banded watersnake hide sewed with sinew and a liner. Made this one awhile back. Its one of my best. I finished the sheath up last night. Be headed out this week.
-
That's really cool Wildman
-
Mine goes in the mail today
-
Just left the PO country should get his by Monday
-
Having had such a poor year so far smiles have been few and far between. Having my wife lose the baby, my grandpa pass away followed by my dog. As I came back from the doctor today (eye and sinus infection) I see a package. Man Rick, what a honor to have such pieces of art. I had a sneaking suspicion that you were making me a ball starter. It is awesome. The knives are very sharp, and very good looking. I smiled and sang a little tune. Thank you so very much.
-
Glad you like them brother! Get them fishy and bloody! 8)
-
If it is still 55 degrees Saturday morning they are gonna get used for some Crappie on the fly rod. Since I started this whole traditional addiction I haven't wet my line.
-
Them r nice!!!!!
-

-
That ain't right... >:D
-
Sweet knife Kevin!
-
thanks Bruce.
-
Looks good, I'm excited.
I kind of feel bad 'cause mine is taking so long. I'm planning to do the heat treat this evening if I get my forge finished. It may be tomorrow though, but I still think I can get it shipped before the end of the month.
-
no worries josh
-
I'm trying to get my knife glued but weather isn't cooperating. Gonna have to skip the vise and use clamps when I get the chance to get my scales cut out. I'm not slacking, just no heat :0(
-
Got a shop light you can tent it with foil and it will get hot
-
Got my forge finished tonight. Gonna heat treat tomorrow. I hope it goes well, I've never done it before.
-
Finally got a break in some of this freezing weather to go out and put together my... lets say, interesting, forge. what ever works! I heat treated three blades and they are tempering in my toaster oven as I type this. should be done over the weekend and headed to Wizardgoat right after. not sure which he is getting yet.
-
Got my forge finished tonight. Gonna heat treat tomorrow. I hope it goes well, I've never done it before.
be sure to face north lol the old wives tale is true
-
Man if i did'nt have so many other projects going I'd like get in on that.
-
hard to decide but I am leaning more towards the left one. any thoughts guys?
-
I like the right one.
-
I like the middle one
-
i can see the left one paired up with a brass guard and a nice piece of antler.
but hey that's just me.
-
I was thinking antler on the left one without a brass guard but I like the sound of it with. I also thought brass guard on the middle one was a sure thing. I may make up all three and pick the best one to head out.
-
I will get a couple of pics up tonight of what i am sending out.
-
Btw, I recieved my knife from Wildman. Its offical, I have a wildman collection. The newst knife looks old and beaten up. I love it. I showed it to a friend that does pencil drawings from the revolutionary and civils wars. He loved it and wanted to use it in some pics. I told him tough luck. When he does borrow stuff, he don't bother bringing it back.
-
Glad it made it safe. I have an older very talented friend who is a perfectionist he says I have a rough finish. I explained to him that I build patinia into everything I make. If I build an era knife or axe I want it to look like its been around that long. The only flintlock I have done looks like it has been on 1000 trails and a war or two. ;D
-
I just got an amazing little knife from KHalverson. I love it. Its just the right size for every day carry. I'm gonna have to start wearing a belt just so I can carry it with me. I love the hamon line and the tiger maple scales( I think ). I better post the pics before I get carried away describing it.

Needs a few coats of tru-oil and a nice sheath. came out a little more steak knife like than I had wanted. might end up sending a different one. East indian rose wood handle with 1/4" brass pins on my first attempt at a knife from a file. hope this is up yer alley wizardgoat.

So it's been so cold(single digits without the windchill) I have done squat in my shop. Today I got the guff to get this handle on. And ruined my quilted maple scales. SoOOOooo... Who doesn't like Birdseye ;)
My drill bit wasn't as sharp as I thought and I don't have any oval pins O:)
-
Starting to get her shaped up.

Might send this sucker out. The finger guard was a bit of a pain but Im very happy with the out come. my mosaic pin I made came out alright. if you cant tell, the small pins are supposed to be in the shape of an arrow  . The handle material is super oily wood call Wenge, looks oil black after tru-oil. Im liking the whole file to knife activity!
