After rereading Jim Hamm on building a sinew-backed bow, I notice he prefers bison sinew for its length and softness. Looking for it online, it's spendy stuff except when sold as dog chews. Unfortunately, the chews I am finding that appear to be real North American bison tend to be baked. I am guessing this destroys the material for use as bow backing.
Anyone have a good source for this material that won't break the bank? If it can be baked, packaged and sold for $1.89 per tendon on Amazon, it ought to be available raw somewhere for less, one would think.

Just use whatever kind you can get. You won't notice the difference.

i tried emu sinew one time, and it was very brittle and cracked on the bow,,, had to take off and start over,,

I have a huge sinew stash from trades on this message board.
the guys here are a great source of pretty much anything, get some tradeables and go for it

Bill ( think cow ) basicly the same.
Wiz, are you offering some of your sinew up for trade.

I have lots of whitetail back tendon right now. I process it myself, so it's raw and very clean. I have an ad on the Trade Blanket and am very open to trading.
