So, I had this short and skinny piece of Elm left over from the top of a sapling and decided to try and do something with it.
I ended up with this...
46" Ntn
50#@22"
4 3/4" brace height

Cool man. I like it.
50# at 22" eh? Can it go back to 28"?
-
28"? Maybe....but probably only once :o
-
Elm will go to 30 at that length it just won't move forward when you loose. ;D
Nice one.
-

awesome bow! love the style
-
Nother nice one!

Nice job. Kuddos for reminding the rest of us that it isn't always necessary to cut down a 30 foot, 12 inch thick hickory (or elm) tree in order to make a proficient weapon.
-
Nice looking bow.

Another great looking bow thunder. Are you heat treating your elm?

+1, Nice bow, love your work

Sweet!

Very well done bow!
Work it down to 49lbs at 23" and you'll end up with a great candidate for a flight- record, if shot with a light arrow( about 200-250grs.). 49lbs at 23" will match the rules.
I' ve an elm- shortie( 44" in length, 45lbs) shooting an 210grs. arrow at 224f/s.
Saplings rule! Michael

Nice, you got the most outta that short piece of elm.
-
Great bow, awesome tiller
-
very nice,, :)
-
Very nice. You can get another 2 or 3 inches of draw out of it.
-
I like it. That's a perfect hunting bow. I'd look at the pictures more but your so scary looking >:D it's a good thing I know that your not actually an axe murder. But really great bow. My next bow will be an elm. Thanks for the inspiration.
-
Another nice one. :)

Nice one.
I'm with Marc, there are a few more inches in it.
-
Very nice work, Thunder.
-
28"? Maybe....but probably only once :o
For a guy that always looks so serious, you got a nice sense of humor!
Your bow's super power is that it can be drawn to 28"....once. Just like my super power is to be able to stop a bullet....once.
Now if I could read any of your posts without the song "Thunder" by AC/DC going thru my head. Then again, maybe that is appropriate theme music for your lightening bolt throwing bows!

Another great looking bow thunder. Are you heat treating your elm?
Thanks and yes, I get them just short of my full draw and heat treat them. Then I usually have to retiller to get the weight back down to something more usable. I'm not very technical about it though.

I love what Im seeing Thunder. Your killing the elm bows.
-
Very nice Thunder! Any crystals yet?

Very nice Thunder! Any crystals yet?
Not yet, I've got the belly as flat as possible trying to avoid that, and I've only put about 150 full draw shots through it...so we'll see what happens :)

Good work. I have made some pretty strong bows out od some very skinny elm. I like it.
