So I decided a few months ago to take the backpack challenge to see if I could do it, and to push the limits of some osage. I started with a sweet piece of osage with a red streak in it, then I overlayed some paduak to the tips to accent the red streak. It started out with one limb looking like half of a 5 curve bow (as Gun Doc calls it), so I steamed the other limb to match. But since I was really stressing those limbs out, it has taken about 1 1/2" set. It is finished with 4 coats of Tru-oil, and wrapped with brown buckskin leather for the handle.
42# @ 22"
37 3/4" NtN
7/8" wide at the handle
3/8" wide at the tips

Nicely done Sir!

I'm a little sceptical about how well I tillered this one. Tell me what you think, I want your honest opinions
-
I'm not real good with tiller checks, but that string angle :o .....sure hope you've got good deep nocks.......looks like it could be past 90. Does it click as you draw it back past the string groves?

I can't tell if it is the tiller or the way you are holding at full draw, but it looks like the bottom limb is bending more, otherwise it is great.
-
:D. Yea, I made sure to cut those nocks deep just for that reason. And talk about stack!
-
that is awesome consider slite flipping of tips, for string retention.
