Title: First bow since my last bow

Soooo....about a year. Just finishing this one up today. Rawhide backed hackberry. 45 pounds at 28.5 inches. 66 inches ntn, 1.25" wide. Walnut overlays and dyed brown. Never fought to heat out a staves original shape only to have it return exactly to that shape as it broke in like this one did. Guess it really wanted to be a gull wing shape. The limbs sit about flat with the handle just as they did before I heated it though, so I'm not complaining. A lovely shooting bow.

Thanks Carson! I have waaaaay too many hobbies. I only get around to bow making every now and then these days.

looking good to me! Full draw needed as we all know >:D I recently learned that Dan and I only live about 20 minutes away from each other and he has offered to teach me to knap. Dan, I have a few pieces of osage you can take a look at some time that should be long enough for you but they're standing dead. I've had great luck with this batch of wood.

Nice, I like that style and woodwork. I wish I could do something similar in the future. The only thing that hits my eye is that funny peg inserted as "arrow shelf". It´s totally unnecessary and doesn´t belong to traditional bows...

Ug...but full draw pictures are so hard to do by yourself! Here's a pathetic attempt. I can't pull it all the way back with just one hand, and the clutter and chaos of my garage is NOT camera friendly and I see my sheet only serves to mess things up more with it off center.

Looks like the most bend is at inner limbs ....
right looks better than left. Maybe the bow sits not correct on the tree.

The left limb is lower and 1" shorter limb. I think what your seeing is the .35" natural set back in the handle that wouldn't have been much of a pain but the dip isn't centered and curves back right at the end of the fade in the lower limb in a hingey kinda shape. But, that limb has less visible string follow than the upper, so it certainly isn't over stressed. This all stuff I tried to heat out but, all came back as it broke in. It looks better at full draw when the naturally reflexed tips finally uncurl, but I couldn't seem to get it back that far with one hand and hold the camera steady. haha
