I hunted this afternoon and had five bucks come by me no good shots on the first 4 , and one was a REAL nice deer 19'' 8pt. About 15 mins after he left another good one walked right under me , shooting down at 7-10yds nailed it a little back , but not real far. The big problem is no pass through. He no doubt about it has one deflated airbag and probably a nicked liver. We found good blood and frothy bubble blood one a few willow trunks. We (wisely) backed out for the night , and will pick up at first light. It's as thick as a jungle on that part of the farm. The arrow was buried to the crest 29'' arrow and he is still wearing it. Its a 125gr muzzy three blade with the wood grain carbons shot from a 60lb Widow. I totally focused on a spot and hit about 4'' further back than I meant with rearward angle. I looked at the horns long enough to know he was (as Dp would say) " a gooder " Wish me luck guys and hopefully next post will be pics and ;D

Hoping the best for ya, buddy.

Best of luck!

I bet he didn't go far. It's cold tonight so it won't hurt meat staying out overnight. Looking forward to seeing some trophy pictures tomorrow. Good luck!
-
Good luck buddy.

Sounds like a lethal shot. Good judgment backing out. Way better than pushing and losing him. Can't wait to see the pics.
-
Well, its first light. Where's the buck? :)
-
:) LOL coffee first , Clint fixing to get to it been up since 4:30 ;)

Patience, bud. Patience!

Best of luck on the recovery. I know only too well the wound up toss and turn all night feeling of having an unrecoverd deer still in the woods.
-
Certainly been there. Don't get much sleep through the night. Good luck! Show some pics!

The suspense is killing me :o
-
Hopefully he is busy dragging.

Well tracked for about another 500yds across cut beanfield. He has now gone into WRP which is worse than thick , I talked to landowner of WRP ground and he gave me greenlight , so quick bite of lunch and I'm going back out. Believe me, Clint the suspense is really killing me. We also saw buzzards circling over WRP.
-
Best of luck to you ;)
-
Well . 5 1/2 hrs of looking and nothing :-\ I really thought it was a done deal last night . I hate the fact that I am sure I killed a critter and cannot find it. WRP is an old Indian word for billions of 4yr old trees 2'' apart , and don't forget cypress swamps. I hate it for sure. Sorry Clint no pics!
-
Sorry to hear that. It happens. Keep an eye on the sky for the buzzards. He is out there somewhere.

Ky gun season opens in the morning , the crazies will be out en mass. I talked to other land owners to let me know if it is found. I never found the arrow and with a downward shot and no pass through I'm sure it is still in it. I have ye olde flintlock rifle tuned up , so maybe I will make meat soon ;)
-
Pics of ye old flintlock would make this thread no so gloomy. Just saying... :)
-
Sleek. I will post one as soon as a local cervid bites the dust. Whats your pleasure smoothbore or rifle?
-
Good luck with the smoke pole. You never know. Maybe a tough old buck with an arrow sticking out of it will walk by.
-
Smooth if you please :) good luck to you.

Whats your pleasure smoothbore or rifle?
Yes! Both!
