Title: experimental elm bow
Post by: bushboy on November 06, 2014, 06:36:31 pm
Heavy heat treated, stiff outer limbs and boxy tiller.yes I am a speed freak, just playing around.not a pyramid but almost, gradual taper to the last 12 " to skinny tips.i don"t much like the full draw but I do like the way it shoots.put a least 500 through it so far.any comments welcome, thx's Rob!

Skinny tips, great unbraced profile, and a stiff handle.  I bet that thing shoots fast and smooth.

The square tiller taken with the front profile makes sense.  Bet she's a screamer.

Hole in the bow.matt,i cut it and let it bleed moisture out of the ends till it started to dry up after about 5 days.sealed the ends with wood glue and peeled the bark.left it in the round for about a month.kerf cut it with a skilsaw then split into staves.let the staves sit for about a month and then bandsawed them into blanks.thx's rob!

That's how a burner of a bow should look like.
Quite short, narrow tips, premium tiller.
Love that bow.
