Title: Applewood?
Post by: Chadwicksbog on October 11, 2014, 08:32:22 pm
Applewood, can it work for a bow? I realized I have several slabs of natural edge Apple I cut that dried nice that I can get staves out of.....

Too problematic?

Apple wood should make a good bow.

Nice! The way I cut it I have two boards with the pith running through them, all there is to do is rob the staves off the boards! I think I'll keep those till I get a clue!

Cut some staves and send me some. We'll try them together!

There is a huge grove of wild Apple trees here, they are surrounded by hardwoods so they grew fairly straight trying to get to the light........I might have to go grade them this winter.....

Should really find one great tree split it up and have a chad stave sharing! We could all have one off the same tree!
