Title: "blued" banding metal trade point question
Post by: Pat B on September 29, 2014, 03:34:36 pm
I sent Cipriano some trade points that were made from "blued" metal banding. I think these were stamped out but they were not sharpened. What is the best way to sharpen them without loosing the temper?

File... slow and easy, that would be my pick. Higher speed will do it faster but build up heat. Unless maybe you have a wet grinder... just brain storming...

   Oops.

The best way would be to use a file, diamond sharpener,or a Lansky style sharpener....I ya use a grinder power tool..etc..Ya will have to re temper them..No biggy..JUst throw them in the oven on 400 degrees for an hour..Then fine tune the edge...

I'd use my knife kit like bill said. Rough diamond and the smooth diamond, the ceramic. And probly a bandaid or two >:D
