I haven't made a bow in 2 years or so but I have still been an active hunter and outdoorsman. I have taken 4 deer now (non-primitive), so i decided it is time to switch back to the selfbows. Anyway, this was made from some elm I cut about 2 years back, nice clean stave with only a few small knots. The stave was quite narrows so I opted to use a "D" style cross section to compensate for the narrow limbs. Also flipped the tips slightly. the bottom limb is shorter and the tiller is far from perfect but she draws smoothly and hits hard. Draws 40# @26". 60" ntn. I will be hunting with this bow this season.

Hey Tom! Welcome back! Good to see you again.
We were all pretty excited over the story of your first deer. Care to share some stories of the other three?

Nice work!looks like a molly tiller?

Thanks guys. It is not a holmegaard tiller although it does look like it slightly. Just flipped tips. Elm is a really pleasant wood to work with.
