Title: Tree ID, will it make good tip overlays?
Post by: Cloudfeather on September 15, 2014, 06:34:45 pm
My brother cut down this tree in his GF's yard. He said it looked kind of like a willow. Can't find any info online to identify it. Any ideas?

Russian olive, pretty soft and easily split, so I wouldn't use it for overlays

No leaves? That could be from any of a bunch of trees. The bark looks like a conifer to me.
Almost any wood can be used for overlays.

Agree bark looks like pine or cedar. What does it smell like?
