I've got some Osage staves about 39". 3 of them are from the same log and I found another one from a different log. My question is will splicing the different one together work or should I use a take down sleeve. Or will it work at all?

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. The billets don't have to be from the same tree, in fact I've seen bows posted with limbs of different species.

Tim,
From what I've learned it' all in the tillering......start with like shaped limbs a go slow. ;)

...and with limbs from two different sources try not to consider limb thickness or grain flames between the two limbs. Tiller the bow so both limbs bend evenly and together. That is our goal with all wood bows but sometimes you have to think about it. ;)

Thanks Pat for finishing my thought.... :) Couldn't of said it better.. ;)

Finishing a bbo now , the billets i spliced r from different trees n different grain just had to pay attention to tiller. Thw bottom limb is thicker than top limb but got em bending equally
