Title: Birch tar from alder?
Post by: Billinthedesert on September 09, 2014, 07:50:26 pm
I've always wanted to make some of this stuff, but we really don't have any but ornamental birch trees here in Oregon, so I am mostly out of luck. I notice birch is of the genus Betula, and the Betulacaeae family, which also includes alders. Plenty of alder in Oregon. Has anyone tried to make a useful tar from alder bark?
