Chomping at the bit here. I put on Rawhide and sinew string knocks, How long should I let them dry before I can shoot the new baby?
-
What kind of glue did you use?
-
What kind of wood? Normally I'll give 24 hours with TBIII, hide glue a little longer, and this all depends on the R/H at the time. Inside a house with A/C will be pretty dry so 24 hours should be enough.
-
Out side (Garage, no AC). In Utah I think we are at around 20% today. I used TBII, Do I need to use 3? It is on Osage. Here is a sneak peak of the finished product.

well if they seem dry and hard probably ok,, but if you wait till tomorrow it will be better
-
I asked as I had put them on yesterday, and they slipped today. I was over 24 hours, I used a triangle file and cut grooves in the side of the limbs below the knocks and added more sinew and quite a bit more glue. As the night ran on I had a visitor at my house who claimed to know how to make a bow, and that I needed to soak it in water to get its shape :o. The gin won, and I strung it and full drew it for him :-\.
It held. I will get the handle wrap done tomorrow and get some photos up.
Stupid gin...

Impatience probably kills or wounds more wood bows than any other single malady. Learn patience, gin or not, and your bows and confidence will improve.

Thanks for that advice Pat. It is funny that I can take my time right up until the end, and then I want to rush.
-
That's the worst place to get impatient. ;)
-
They seem to be holding well today. I haven't made a string for it, as I am waiting on some B50 to get here. It should be here by Wednesday. I started the handle wrap today, also rawhide, with a rawhide shelf.

Not water, exactly....water that has been processed by an American bison, perhaps, but I digress!
What is it about people with absolutely no knowledge thinking they can buffalo someone that actually HAS working knowledge? Just yesterday I had someone telling me that I need to find branches that are already bent into the shape of a bow and that Native Americans (he actually used the term "injuns") would bend a sapling to shape and let it grow into a bow. Had I let him go on, undoubtedly he would have claimed his great-grand-who-cares was a for-sure Indian Princess!
I have never gone into the mechanic and told him that my great-who-really-cares was a genuine for-sure daughter of Henry Ford and that if you use tailpipe grease on the carb linkage then your fuel injectors will never foul up! *sigh*
Good luck with this one, JoJo

He was the new boyfriend of one of my wifes friends. We made a wager about his employment status and how many baby mommas he had. We (Tyke and I) were trying to be gracious hosts and attempting to make him feel comfortable. He was a real winner for sure. He even disappeared toward the end of the night. Turns out he left my house and got lost in my neighborhood (Grid system, maybe 5 total roads), passed out on someones lawn, and had to call his dad in another county to come and get him. >:D He did do a card trick for me though :-\
-
he did two trick's Jo, made himself disappear >:D
-
Full Reveal tomorrow. It's a heavy one!
