Title: Heat treated black locust, crush test
Post by: druid on September 05, 2014, 06:03:47 am
Hello to all my friends here... Long time ago I am overcrowded and have very little time to post and to read. But I found some time for one crush test. It is black locust limb (the other one failed because I have done too agressive treatment that scorched and back). It was straight limb and I reflexed it in about 4" reflex. Fixed in handle, we tried to brake it. Results are visible in video. If you look closer you will see that limb did not brake, part of the handle in vise broke. This piece of wood seems unbreakable. It is still in my collection. What is interesting: it lost no reflex and get no crysals. Thanks to all that spent their time teaching me how to heat treat wood. Ofcourse, Marc helped me enormous, many times, these results wouldn't exist without him. Thank you Marc. :)
See you soon my friends with new tests. ;)

Great to hear from you Druid. I'll check out the video. Glad you're still at it. I know your bows and photography are still inspiring folks.
