I did a few other soapstone items and a banded slate point.
I reworked the bannerstone but need to take a pic.

There were brothers at Flint Ridge last weekend that had a most impressive display of banded slate. I wish I had some photos. Perhaps some one here knows them?

That is really cool.  Have you made an atlatl with the bannerstones tied in?  Do you feel it improves performance?  Really nice...

Is that local soapstone, or did you have to send off for it?

Parnell, thanks for the compliment. Don't get me wrong.
I usually upset folks that think exquisite stones on sticks were used for hunting.
The bannerstone I made has a fairly large hole 3//8 of an inch in dia.
I have never seen a atatal stick that narrow.
 Most bannerstones are drilled smaller.
My thoughts are -- Drill masters made them and used them as counter
weights for drill rods. Hand or bow.
I have fitted the banner to a shaft and hope to haft the flint drill I made
to the shaft.
I reamed the bannerstone with that drill. I need to make a bow also.
I am looking at speed drilling as a project.

OH PS  The banded slate is very thin and is drilleed for a pendant.
Just a figment of my imagination to cameo the neat slate.
