Hello guys...i start this year pretty nice i could say...i wanted for a long time a recurve, and after i broke one a fiew mounth a go..( whenn i try to bend the tips), now i finaly decided to give it a try again and this is whatt it coume out.Its a honey locust bow...saap wood on the back and heart wood on the belly. Its aboute 175cm long, it pulls 52#@ 29".I give it a balck-red finish i try to make him look ancient some how, and the strike plate is made from bone, and the overlays are cow horn.I hope you will like it...

The bow had a little deflex in the limbs..so i try to put some reflex on him before tillering but the bow come oute like it wass at the first time..so the delfex is his natural deflex....

Looks like it came out quite well akila.
-
looks real good to me, did you use steam or dry heat to bend the limbs?
-
Hi...sorry i forgot to mention this..i used steam..aboute 45 minutes for each tip.And i have used something metalic, to help the belly of the bow not to get the tips broken or something. It worked quite well...just small splinters that i had themm remouved later.

Nice!

Thks a lot for your compliments...im a little sad becose it seams that i cant make some nice pictures...im not such a good photographer..the bow looks much better thenn it is in those pictures...i want to ask you all something els..do you think the tiller its good like that?? i dont realy know verry much aboute how it should be tiller a recurve bow so...i wass loking at some pictures here on the forum and i try to do the same...thks again..

That is a dandy. Good work on that handle and nocks! Looking forward to seeing it for BOM voting later on.

Akila looks great.
Tiller looks right on IMO,but you might consider a lower brace height to reduce set in the limbs.Love the looks of this bow.
-
That recurve came out really nice! I agree with Mamba that the brace should be lower...might do some untwisting on that string to lengthen it. :)
-
Whoah! What a good job on the finish. I really like the profile of the limbs.
-
Bow looks great akila! I'm trying to build one myself in spare time right now - hope she holds together :).
-
Very nice. I want to try a recurve one day, and I love the bone arrow plate. Nice looking overall, and I bet it shoots fast.

thks a lot guys for your compliments..i think my self that this is my best bow so far...the brace is at mist mele....the string that i made this time a made it on the limit...i just twist her 4 times and its at fis mele by now..so untwisting it its not an option...maybe to do other string a little longer for this bow..The limbs look like that (set) becose the wood wass deflex from the begining...its the delfex half of the log that i split a fiew mounth a go...so.. this is it...maybe i will do another string for this bow...thks for your replays..

The tiller shape looks pretty good but the top limb apears to be stronger in the full draw picture. Other than that you did a wonderful job for your first atempt at a recurve.
-
Looking good akila. Justin
