how do I make a board bow and what is the best wood and does any one where of if there is a pattern for a board bow
-
I'm moving this to "BOWS" for better exposure.
Fredie, Look at George Tsoukalas' website. There is a link at the top of the "How To" page, I think. George goes through every aspect of building a wood bow and also arrows. His site will answer most if not all of your questions and the rest of us can help from there. ;)

thank you very much pat b I will let you know how this goes

These are very basic questions that are easily answered using Google. We are not a question-answer machine. We are humans trying to help each other out using experience.
Your short 'question' leads to a short answer:
- Buy/borrow the book The Traditional Bowyer's Bible volume 1. Read it front to back. Read it again.
- Go to http://poorfolkbows.com/oak.htm and do what he says. Skip page 5. You can replace red oak by maple, ash, elm or hickory.
-
I don't see why answering a newcomer's question is such a bad thing. Seems like growing the community is one of the better reasons for coming to a site such as this. Welcome fredie and good luck with your first bow.

thank you very much and I agree why is it such a big deal you know maybe a person has had different experiences then a computer

Thanks, Pat. freddie, I love red oak in board form. It is readily available.
Follow the directions on the buildalong. You can make a change to 1 3/8" wide out to mid limb narrowing to 1/2 inch nocks. Makes it easier to shoot and you can get 45-50# if all goes well.
Look for straight grained stock.
Here is my site.
