Im donating this to the Pine River Rec Club to raffle off at their 25th Annual "Stick bow Shoot" next weekend. For those who haven't been to this shoot, you owe it to yourself to hit it at least once. Its a fantastic club on fantastic grounds with fantastic 3-d ranges.....and the Saturday dinner?? People come just for that. It trumps the whole weekend. The amount of donated food and time is staggering.
Hickory
67" ntn
A stout 55# @ 28"
Osage overlays
452x 10 - strand string
She flat SMOKES an arrow. Id dare say its as fast any bow in its category, glass or not. Should make somebody a good hunting bow. I stained the whole bow with grey alcohol base dye. Then took some whooped out 220 grit and lightly hit the ridges to get the coolest camo job yet for me. I love the outcome. Its sealed in 5-6 coats of Deft clear satin, love that stuff lately to.

I've always liked hickory bows, my first three or four shooters were hickory. Nice look'n dye job Chris, hickory can be tough to stain or dye and look good. Really like the unbraced profile no set :) Good job for a good cause, way to go Chris.

She's a beauty Chris and I bet that dye job looks even better in person. I know you been helping out at the club in preparation for the shoot as well as making this donation bow, very generous of you and much appreciated by all us

Chris,
I'm collecting the change in my sock drawer, shaking down the neighborhood kids for their milk money, and dipping into the 401k just to buy some tickets! That's a very nice looking bow and I have some game cam pictures of a couple of bucks that would be honored to act as targets.
BTW, for the Saturday night pot luck, I'm planning to bring some moose . Is it best to precook and freeze something, or just bring some meat? This is my first Elm Hall event and don't know what type of set up you have for cooking.

Thanks for all the kind words guys! My elbows and shoulders have been hollering at me for a while. I haven't worked with the king much lately. The notion of knifing sapwood off gives me the chills. I haven't played with hickory in a good while either. I have zero complaints. It took a bit of set, but not more than any other wood off the same caul. Maybe 1 1/2" or so? Its a fine bow that should last somebody decades.
-
Fine job on that one Chris...I like the color for sure and tiller is immaculate as usual...Someone will be well pleased with that...Wish my name was in the hat!

Cool looking bow Pearlie, If I could make it my money would be in the pot and I think hickory is only good for cooking.

Nice bow Chris, if I win it I will shoot a deer with it for ya. ;)
