I've measured my draw length in the past a couple different ways actually and always come out ~27.5". Well I'm starting my shortest bow attempt yet at 63ttt" so I wanted to be absolutely positive of my draw length as in the past I've always just tillerred out to 28. Just a min ago using the paper clip method I got 26" over and over again...a smidge less actually! That's great for short bow tillering sake! I am 5'11" and I thought I had long arms so I was surprised...do many other self bow shooter around my size have a draw this short???
-
im 5'11" myself and i draw 26". when i first started i thought i drew 29" but in the last two years ive found that 26" is more accurate.

28 inch draw with a compound. 27 inch with most of my self bows, but a few deep handle bows are 28 inch and I am a little over 6 ft tall. I find most newcomers over estimating their draw length by a good bit.
-
I know there are a million threads about this and a dozen ways to do it, but exactly HOW are you guys measured your drawlength, I get quite different figures depending on how I do it.
-
I found the best way is any method that uses an actual arrow drawn on a bow you shoot regularly. Either by having some mark where the arrow touhes the back of the bow, or putting an elastic or something similar and drawing till it bumps the riser.

I used to be 6'1-1/2" and have lost the bit over 6, but my wing span is still about 6'5". A lot of the is the long pinion feathers." In my teens, I drew to my ear and had a 30" draw. Later, I started anchoring at the corner of my mouth and flexing my bow arm a bit. For a couple of decades, my draw length has been 28".
-
Reading this makes me feel like a freak of nature. I'm 5' 8" and have a 31 1/2" draw. My wingspan is a touch over 6'. This one of the reasons I started making my own equipment since finding bows and arrows to fit my draw became a hassle. That and the fact that I like the heavy bows. :)

If I am shooting 60# my draw length is about 25 1/2" if I am shooting 50# it measures at 26 1/2 with a full size handle, a slim handle maybe 26". I am 5"7"
-
5'11" also draw 27.5" so leave it at 27" its just feels better. I'll post photos soon but I tillered out a new bow at 25-26" draw for various reasons. I know many on here will get a good laugh at this bow, its totally off the wall, obscure and down right strange.. ;D........stay tuned..

Completely opposite for me. If I shoot a heavy bow I draw longer because my form needs to be perfect. If I shoot a light bow I usually have a shorter draw because I don't need perfect form to aim steady and be comfortable.

Using the method from a 3Rivers video on figuring out your drawlength, I get 27 inches. And I'm about 5'8 with 66 inch wingspan, which is about 2 inches shorter than my height, so I must have stubby arms
-
I'm 6'2" and draw 25".
I flex my bow arm quite a lot, and can't help but
lean my head forward.
-
6 foot and draw 26 inch. I'm most accurate like that. If I use thumb draw for some reason it feels right to draw 31 or so.
-
I was the same, started out at 28, then 27 then about 26.
-
ive measured every which way possible....27" every time...but i have some short draw bows that i adjust my draw to...one is 60#@25"...abd i cant even pull it beyond that..not sure its possible...lol
-
I think most people overestimate their draw length... don't think I've ever met anyone who actually drew longer than they thought.
I say I draw 28", but it's often down to 27 as I tire, or before I'm warmed up.
Unless I go warbow stlye, but even then it's nearer 31" than the "traditional" 32

The best way is to have someone watch while you shoot. Your pose draw length is often longer than your shooting length. Jawge

I am a good bit over six feet tall
my draw lenth is never over 28.5 with 27.5-28 being normal for the summer time and having a hard time getting to anything over 26 in the winter
I draw to the corner of my mouth if I can get there but for hunting with the cooler weather my flint tips are set to 26 inches and I draw till I feel it touch the back of my knuckle !

Drawlenght is totaly dependent of your stance!
Ill bet almost everyone adds atleast an inch if you shoot from a closed "olympic" style stance.
The moment you change anything from that the draw shorten e.g hunch a bit or open the stance.
My own draw goes from 29 1/4 to just short of 28" when i go from "classic" to primitive.

An interesting thing here is that nobody is really mentioning how they're measuring, or to where.
I do think that the AMO standard for draw length is useful. Even though I am inconsistent, when I am shooting well and correctly, my draw length is 29" AMO. But measured to the back of the bow, depending on which bow, that might be 27" on some or 30" on others. I'm 6'1" and don't have especially long arms.
For those who don't know of it, the AMO standard is your draw measured from the inside of the arrow nock groove to the belly side of the grip -- the deepest part. Add 1 3/4" and that gives you AMO. This is the length I use to tiller all of my bows.
So basically the "true" draw length should be string to belly side of the grip. For my 29" AMO my "true" draw length is 27 1/4". But for some reason it seems more guys measure to the back of the bow than the belly.
I guess standards are there for a reason: To be ignored!
