This piece has a huge knot that goes through it that scares me I'd originally thought it was fire wood now im wondering could there be a bow in there? Would any of you attempt it ?

WOW :o :o I wouldn't go anywhere near that, but I'm sure somebody out there would. Good luck with it if ya give it a go.

I like the idea of a bow from firewood, imagine how awesome it will look if there is one in there?
-
I would go for it. Clean it up real good and see what you have, follow the side grain and clean up all 4 sides. Keep us posted it might make a cool bow.

Yes !

I'd go for it. Like badger said, clean it up and see what ya got. U could probly drill out that knot depending on what it looks like. Or once u thin it down to bow dimensions it may fall out. Ull never know if ya don't try.

The knot is still pretty solid and hard wood

I'm probably gonna chase the ring on the back which will be hell around the knot I'm sure and thin it alittle then post another pic and see what you guys think

There's really only one way to know for sure joe, I think you already know the answer ;)

Of course lol

That stave will teach you a lot about working osage and building wood bows if you let it.
There is a bow it there. Finding it is a different matter. ;)

Yep you are so right. There's a bow in there but it's gonna be a tough fight to get it out lol

It's the narrow bit below the knot in the first pic that would worry me.
If that cleans up to reveal enough wood, they I reckon you are good.

Try it! worst case scenario you only get more experience and no bow, best case you get both!
