Title: Variable spine arrow set
Post by: Richard B on June 18, 2014, 01:38:46 pm
I am thinking about making up a set of arrows of varying spine, so I can learn a bit more about dynamic spine/ matching spine to a non centershot bow etc.
Plan to split some pine and make up a series of shafts of increasing diameter and adjust for spine in 10lb intervals and then fit a common set of points and fletchings. Does that sound sensible?

Sounds good to me. I have collected such an enormous amount of various arrows over the years I can just go to a bin and grab 3-4 spines and shoot. What ive noticed with average draw weight wood bows is most fall in the 50-60 spine range no matter the riser cut or bow style.

Good project
Time you get them whittled out and shooting you will have learned a good deal
you may wish you had used something besides pine , it can vary a bunch , maybe Poplar
Have fun!
