Title: I got Jon W's secret....steroid Osage / 48" flat-bow 44# @ 26"
Post by: half eye on June 15, 2014, 03:57:28 pm
Fellas, back awhile Jon W give me some osage made 2 real fine bows  (which my brother and nephew promptly scarfed up) and had a small sliver off the side of the biggest stave so thought I'd make a little fun bow.

Jon W Osage, 48" ntn, 44# @ 26 (ya 26") I even pulled her to 27 (once) with no issues at all. As usual I left the osage "as is" with the exception of flipping one tip to match the other. The grip wrap is some cheapo cotton sting.

Hope ya like the pictures, enjoy. I'm sorry brother but I just had to "out" you for using the super-wood, someday ya got to tell me what ya feed that wood down there (steroids?) or do I even want to know? ::) ::) ::) >:D 8)

Thank you Dwardo, Yes it's a lot of bend, thats why I'm givin Jon a hard time, that wood is just insane

Thanks Don, appreciate your opinion

Jon W, your bow building skills are top shelf all the way.....it just aint fair when ya combine your skill level with osage on a steroid binge, If I knew where ya picked yer wood, I'd be in the market for me one of them ninja suits and a man-hole cover fer that buck-shot >:D >:D >:D 8)

Don't know how you get them to bend that far Rich but that tiller looks good, real good. I agree with ya on that Arkansas osage of Jon's, tough and dense stuff for sure. Was just shooting my 46" osage from Jon's stash yesterday morning and thinking the whole time about taking it deer hunting this fall. Must be something in the soil where his secret harvest spot is, some kinda mineral deposit or something. ;D ;D

One thing about that Jon....send 2 pieces cause ones gonna come back at ya.....try and make ya grunt not like the sissy bows I shoot.

B2, Ya got to love them, I posted a big doe in the huintin section from last year with Don Carters believe it was 44 or 46 shot her clean through (didn't hit no ribs)

Thanks a pretty kick @$$ bow there Rich.  I really like it.  Not too light not too heavy.  Just enought to get the job done.  Looks like an absolute joy to shoot.
