this started out as a crazy stave Will gave me. the most challenging piece of wood I have tackled. With help from Pappy, Chuck, and Will this piece of Osage has slowly been turning into a bow.
-
Dang sirs that looks like fun! :o
-
At this point she is tiller'd and about #60 @ 27". Going to be taken some weight off though. please no comments about my attire... lol
-
Here are some pics of the Black and White Ebony tip overlays
-
Yes I cut a shelf in. I always do. usually will cut it slightly past center. With the strike plate added, it brings it back out to center.
-
Man, the tiller looks good, especially considering what you started with.
-
Looking good. That's a whoopty dooo! Bet that was interesting to tiller out. I love those character bows.
-
Looking good Michael. Hope it don't bend in the top fad.OUCH. ;) :)

Top limb wasn't that bad... but the bottom was a head ache.

I think I am good. I have actually shot about 30 or so arrows through her. just have to take some weight off. a little heavy for my likings...lol
Just figured I hardly ever post on here and decided to get involved.... Facebook angers me..lol
-
Looks real good for a challenging piece of wood. One limb has the curves of a lasagna noodle, good job tillering.

Thanks, but there is still some tweaking and persuading to be done.
-
Did some handle shaping last night and this morning...feeling pretty good..
-
Diggin that handle shape, real graceful... although i don't use shelves 8)
-
Good job on a challenging stave. You Tennessee boys are keeping the bar high!
-
Very impressive! Challenging is an understatement.
-
Doing some more tweaking. Needed to straighten the lower limb some.

Thanks.. it is definitely trying my patience
-
Looked good to me, what corrections did you have to make?
-
moved the lower limb in some to get a little better tip alignment.
-
Nice work on that osage, a piece like that would give me fits tillering but you worked it out very well. Some awesome bows are made in Tenn., gonna be real nice finished up..... oh and those tips sure are some pretty wood.
-
That's coming along nicely Michael. Can't wait to see her all slicked up!
-
I see, now that I understand. I took a bow to the classic that just didn't seem right and Will straightened me out right away. My string alignment was way off and for some reason I just didn't want to see it. Anyway I took it home, added a little heat and now I am very satisfied with the results. Having another set of eyes is a big help.
-
That was a sweet bow rps3! I'm glad that worked out for ya. Sometimes that's all it takes :)
-
bow looks great, very very cool
