Title: crossbow and ball / rock shooting arrow
Post by: fiddler49 on June 06, 2014, 01:02:18 am
This works well with a bow or crossbow. There's a slider attached to a rabbit skin that acts as a drag to keep arrow from going more that a few yards. You don't need fletching. The .50 cal lead ball or rock comes out as fast as the arrow started out.
I just tested it out on the crossbow, SWEET!!!! You can even use with a dozen 1/4" steel shot for bird hunting.

I think the Saracens did something similar but if my memory of reading Saracen Archery is correct the arrow was captive or fixed on the string. They used to shoot flammable items etc.
