Heres one I just finished up. Quarter sawn yellow birch, 58" ntn. Good ole' Halfeye sent me this from his stash when I had expressed some interest in this wood after he posted some of his work with yellow birch. Thank you kindly Rich and I still feel bad about breaking the maple one you also sent me. :embarassed:
Haven't even checked the draw weight on this one but guessing around mid 30#'s @ 25". No fault of the wood I just over scraped it during the build and even though it is to light to use legally for hunting in my state I'd feel confident that it would put a deer down with a sharp broadhead. Smooth drawing, smooth shooting and gets really good arrow flight with every different arrow that I've put through it so far.
Tried to style it after one of Rich's bows because I always like the looks of his work. Finish is tung oil over raw umber and green earth pigment colors. Pin nock at top and diamond nock at bottom limb. 1 1/8" wide at handle and 1 1/4" at fades. 10 strand d-97 string with single beaver fur silencer.
Thanks for looking friends.

Nice work Greg. The paint job has that Badly Bent Look to it, and the bend looks great. Had a few come in liter than planned lately myself. Working on 2 right now that I'm going back to basics on.

Pretty cool bow there Greg! I like it!
-
Greg, judging by the attitude of those arrows (one to the other) looks like it's lettin 'em go pretty clean bud. If you want one heavier let me know.....think I might find some more of that YB.....if I look real hard ::)
rich
PS: Your bows are always aesthetically pleasing and this one's no different.

Nice work Greg. Some times the lighter bows are the most fun to shoot. Im sure it's a blast. I love all your bows, and this one didn't disappoint. :)
-
Great looking bow Greg! Tiller looksreal nice.
-
Always love the looks of your bows Greg ;)
-
Another fine finish job Greg. I like that back stop...;)
-
Sweet looking little bow Greg. What would you compare yellow birch to?
-
Saw that one roughed out. Cleaned up nice and tiller is spot on 8) I'd like to try it out next time we shoot.
-
It turned out real nice Greg! You sure got it bending good. Tips flipped up nicely on it. Did you use dry heat? I bet that bow is light as a feather. Your finishing work is always great.
-
Nice bend Greg. Even trying to copy Rich's style your own comes through. That's a good thing ;)
Not that there's anything wrong with Rich's.

Thanks Slim, I'm building up a collection of lighter weight bows myself lately.
Thank ya big Will.
Thanks Rich, those arrows are mostly 500 grains or more each and pinwheel beautifully to the target. Super clean arrow flight out this bow and to be honest I think that is the most important factor in hunting penetration.
Thanks Matt, yes it's a ton of fun to shoot this one.
Thank ya Okie
Thanks Chris
Thanks Pearly, notice I'm not shooting into that backstop, don't have the muscle to pull arrows out of it. :D
Thanks Cody, not sure what I'd compare it to having only done this one. Hackberry maybe?
Thanks Paul, I'll bring it next time for you to shoot.
Thanks Howard, bent the tips with localized steam, one worked great but I lifted a splinter on the other. Glued, clamped and a sinew wrap took care of that. Yeah it's super light in the hand buddy.
Thanks Jon, yeah Rich's style is certainly nice.

The bend in that bow looks real good.............................. :) ;)

Greg, tiller is money...I can see the tips moving at full draw bud...You got every inch of those limbs working, really nice 8) Like what's going on with the earth pigments and design...

#30's admit it you made that bow just for that evil backstop didn't ya? ;D
Killer work as usual, I'm digging the green!
