Could I used a snake skin shed from a 12' python to back a bow?
-
Wont add any strength or protection, or much color..But will have the skin or "scale" pattern..You can use a dye or stain over it for color..Just my 2 cents tho...
-
I have seen one or two Bruce. Looks pretty cool. Just a little more than plain wood.
-
I've seen pics of one paulsemp did, but like paul said you only get one try once its down its down
-
I saw a nice one this weekend that Paul did, and it looked real good, it wasn't python though.
You might try dying the wood under the skins ???

Paint the pattern on the back of the bow, then slick on the shed skins for the scale pattern effect!
-
The shed is thick. U can see the pattern. I'll post a better pic when I can. I know it'd be faint. I almost wanna do it upside down.it has a honey comb pattern. It's almost as thick as those bull snakes I got off you matt
-
Not the greatest. It's inside out ATM. I need to wet it and split it and re stretch it. I was trying to take a pic to show the pattern. It's faint but there. I'm gonna go for it. Why not.
-
I look forward to the results of this! good luck dude!
-
Thanks Tim. I'm gonna practice on a small piece and see if it's do able. I think it is
-
DO NOT stretch it..wet it yes but do that only when you are about to apply.. not a fan of shed skins but to each his own... interested in seeing it finished though.. gut
-
How did it turn out?
-
It looked cool but it didn't finish how I wanted. So I'm in the process of taking it off. My friends mom owns the snake so I'll try again soon
-
Bruce, Did you take a pic.? Just wondering how it looked?
