Hi Guys.
After the critique I got on my takedown recurve, I reworked the bow
to a takedown flatbow.
I shortend it by 4" so now its 64" long. A new riser (the maple one I had broke...) made of oak, beech and bamboo flooring.
Tips are maple and ipe. Re-tillered her and she came out 50#@26".
What do you think?

Interesting looking. The bearing surface on the riser is rather small, must have a very high load there. When I make them I keep the bearing surface to a minimum of 2.5". You could check out the article I wrote in PA Magazine, must be nearly 10 years ago now, on how to make such a bow

The bearing surface is 2". I made it like this because the limbs are rather short (about 27").
What did you mean by "Interesting looking"? is it good or bad? :o
-
Nice bow, it must be fun to be able to make a new set of limbs for the same bow!

I still prefere a one piece bow. This take down bow was so problematic, I broke 4 risers until I got it tillered. I think I'll call it "outtake"...

where did the risers break, in the area where the limbs attach? when I build 3 pc t/d's i make the bearing area on the riser the same width as the limb and longer than you have, long enough for two bolts, hows it shoot now that you piked it? I think it look's fine and it's your bow so if you like it that's what counts

It all broke in the middle. I've seen the takedown you posted here about 2 years ago bubby, very inspirational.
Only reason I made a takdown is becaus the board was too short. I think next time I'll try a splice glue-up.
