This book (http://www.ottoman-turkish-bows.com/) is supposed to contain all the information you've ever wanted.
No, it's not a digital build along. But it's much better.

danny it depends on what kind of horn bow you want to build, http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,702.msg6130.html#msg6130
here's one

There's a good 5 or 6 part 2hr build along on YouTube. I think it's called how to construct the asiatic bow.
I too have some horn strips, on my list for sure

Check out beadmans posts, he's worked with a lot of horn

cheers everyone, im not sure what kind i want to build yet, probably the least complicated one to start with. i still need to gather a load more sinew before i do anything so it may be a while before i attempt one but i will have a read through the info and posts and have a look at youtube to get some ideas. thanks again danny. :)

Forget youtube, buildalongs etc....a complete waste of time if you ask me.
Making hornbows is not like making wooden bows.
A wooden bow can be made by a novice in a couple of hours with a couple of hours of instruction.
A hornbow is a whole different kettle of fish.
Buy Adam Karpowzi's book. That's the first and last place to get your info from. It has everything you need to know...I guarantee you won't get all the info you need from youtube etc...You really do need that book.
Best of luck.

if you are interested in asian hornbow, you can visit this forum: www.lieku8.com
it's a chinese traditional bow forum and maybe the largest one in world. in the horn bow sub-forum, you can see many bowyers diy Manchu bows, turkish bows, magyar bows, egyptian bows and so on. you can't image how smooth a boo-core turkish bow is! i am also one of them.

If you use the Chrome browser you should get an automatic prompt to translate and it will do it for you. I just tried it and the translation looks passable.

dont mean to hi jack this thread. ive been doing lots of research on this topic, and ordered Adam Karpowzis book to hopefully answer some questions.
if anyone here has constructed many of these maybe they could help with this one question regarding handle section.
In an old back issue of PA theres a turkish bow build along where the handle section is V spliced in the horn sections, so the handle is on the belly side.
Ive also seen some where the horn is just butted up on the belly, and a handle is added on the back of the bow. when the bow pulls into reflex small bit of horn
is wedged between the growing gap of horn on the belly. seems like the handle could pop off too if not properly done?
if there is an easier way to make a horn bow, what is recommended?
