Title: White oak board
Post by: redboard on May 06, 2014, 11:46:22 am
Should I trap the back on a white oak board bow? Also, I'm going to start at 1 6/8 at the fades, taper to 1/2 inch with 30" limbs...I'm thinking to use 5/8" as my starting thickness to begin tillering. Does that sound about right?

You don't need to trap the back. What overall length is your bow? The dimensions sound good. After first brace and you have good string alignment you can narrow the tips to 3/8" or smaller. Leave the last 6" to 8" thick(1/2") at the nocks.
