I've been wanting one of these for a while now and so I ordered the Mora #164 hook knife. I feel like a kid every time I get a new tool. It needs sharpening but I can't wait to uses it.

Are you a bowl or spoon carver?
-
I carve both bowls and spoons actually. I've tried my hand at forging my own hook knife however my blacksmithing skills aren't that great yet.

We used em for skiving ground seats in saddles

Up until now i have relied upon gouges for my bowls and spoons but now i love this thing. It'll even carve seasoned cherry pretty well.

Do you know if they come in Left Handed models???

The shallower curved models are double bevelled and so can be used with either hand.

I know they used to sell a lefty model, I don't know if they do now or not.

I seen the double beveled model when I was looking. It looks like a pretty handy tool. I know most people get rid of the secondary bevel that Mora puts on their hook knive. It chatters a lot rights now though so it definitely needs some work done to it but for the price you can't beat it.
