Title: Geode or ?
Post by: flungonin on April 19, 2014, 09:24:13 pm
Found this in the creek. Biggest piece of Geode I have seen. I went up the creek trying to find the rest of it. Still can't believe how this smooth stuff is fuzed to the Geode.

Good point made by seminolewind- before you bust it up any, you may want to consider whether or not it is a valuable mineral specimen. Some really outstanding or unusual mineral specimens can be worth significant money.

I don't know about value, around here they ain't worth much cept to tourists, but that one looks all cracked up already. Don't know it I'd try to knap it. If you find out it's worth a bunch, get w/ me, I may be able to quit work and geode hunt for a living. Ahhh, that sounds nice. dp

I know my buddy Rick Swartz makes a living selling Coral geodes out of the rivers. They are very colorful and really cool when lights are put in them.

I would post a pic of it in the lapidary or lapidary rough for sale groups on Facebook you could find out exactly what it is and probably get a buyer quick!
