I fancy making a few rawhide backed hickory d bows at about 50 inches nock to nock. What dimensions and draw length should I shoot for?

bendy handle with great to perfect tiller 24-25" draw, i'd deflex a little and flip the tips, realistically 22-23" jmo, hopefully halfeye will post on this one

Agree with bubby and I'll add you dont need to waste your rawhide on hickory, it will fold under compression long before it will break in tension.

While hickory doesn't need help as Jamey mentioned, Id suggest you add it if that's what it takes for you to feel and shoot confidently. It certainly wont hurt the bow if it helps your mind.

Haha no I just want the rawhide as I like working with primitive materials. I'd sinew it if I had the expertise lol.
