finally got my new shootin iron.
32 caliber cap lock traditions crockett rifle.
the workmanship is better than I expected .
hopefully this will be as fun as squirrel hunting with the bow and lead to a few more in the stew pot.

Kevin,
Your really going to enjoy that 32 cal....there so much fun to shoot. I few years back I made a "Tennessee Squirrel Rifle". Shot a many squirrel with it. Made it to resemble the common pioneer rife for small game, iron hardware, browned barrel, full cherry stock. I don't hunt with it much anymore because my eyes will not let me focus on the rear, front sight and target at the same time. been thinking about adding tang peep sight.
Your really going to enjoy it, have some fun and bust some squirrels!

Sweet little rifle. You are gonna enjoy that one.

See if you can patch a 00 buckshot pellet. It is about .32 cal. Order yourself a bag of chilled shot. Can pop quite a few squirrels, and turkeys with them. ;)

FG ram rod is definitely a good idea for target shooting.

Kevin, that will a bunch of fun. My little brother used to get together every year and BP squirrel hunt until he moved to Jacksonville.

Beautiful gun. That should do the trick on the tree rats. :)

But still practice reloading fast and without looking. You know, just in case you have a wounded squirrel charging you!
Or carry a backup gun!
-
You'd be better protected from the charging squirrel if you had that backup gun in the hands of a backup shooter that was standing off to the side a bit. Otherwise that squirrel would already have you before the smoke cleared enough for a follow up shot! Lol! Nice shooter! Josh

W/ my .32 cal I was taught to shoot between the limb and the squirrel to splinter the limb and take out the tree rat that way. :-\ I just always shot the squirrel. I'm gonna have to get mine out and ready for next fall. dp
