I'm new to this bow making business and am thoroughly enjoying it.
so far I have been using tung oil on my white wood bows. I have always liked it and use it on all my gun stocks.
this time though I'd like to put a little color on an ash bow I am making.
I've read many posts on the possibilities, but not sure what I want to do. I'd like to just just enhance the wood, bring the grain out a little, maybe a light brown hue. I like the effect linseed has on wood, but not sure about its sealing properties.
Can I put tung oil over linseed oil? Can I use commercial hardware store stain under tung oil? Do I do the staining after the final sanding?
I'd appreciate any pointers

I have stained with Minwax and sealed with Tung Oil lots of times. Try a coat of shellac first if you just want to enhance the grain and slightly darken it without us9ing stains. You can seal with anything over shellac.
