Title: I heard the Merlins calling

Sitting out in the yard enjoying the 65f weather I heard a pair of Merlins calling to each other. That's MY sign that spring is here. Hopefully they will nest near me. About 5 years ago 4 very young merlins came down to my fountain pond for probably their first bath. I managed to get within 20 ft and hunkered down and watched. One of those once in a lifetime things. I like watching Merlins ;D ;D

Those are incredible birds.  They're like the fighter jet of the bird world.

Yeah, they are "blue flamer" jet pilots for sure!  Almost lost my kestrel while on glove once to a divebombing merlin!  Gutsy little beggars!

They were around all day yesterday, saw them mating a couple of times. I guess they'll be nesting soon. Cool
