Title: Couple Of Knives (better pics added)
Post by: Mohawk13 on March 24, 2014, 12:23:45 pm
2 Knives I recently Hafted..I say Hafted as I did not make the blades. Someone with More Talent than Myself made these. Blades are obsidian. handles are Axis Deer antler, Pine Pitch Glue and sinew wrap. The Larger knife is capped of with brain tanned and smoked deer hide and sinew wrap. Sheath for the larger knife will be made of Musk Ox. Smaller one has a home in a quiver pocket...Enjoy

Those are FANTASTIC!  I would carry that bigger knife every day if it were me, just to show it off.  Knapping some heads and possibly a skinning knife is the next big hurdle for me after I get my bow done, so I will be watching all you guys for ideas and pointers, and this thread is a good one to look at :)

I also have to give props to Steve Nissly (Caveman2533) for the awesome job on the larger blade...It is sharp, stylish, and just all around fantastic..

I have some Musk Ox fur on hide coming that will be the basis for the sheath for this knife. I felt a fine primitive knife needed to be wrapped in a Paleo style sheath..What better than Musk Ox??? as Woolly Mammoth hide is , well, extinct...

And as Far as carrying it...You bet..You all here and on PP are the first to see it. Has not even made a public debut locally
