-
I have black locust trees behind my house and ive never seen pods like this on them.
-
Looks like locust pod to me. Josh
-
Too big for a black locust. Maybe a honey locust. Do the trees have clusters of thorns on the trunk?
-
Our honey locust pods are about twice as long as that. Are they all that long? That looks like an immature one to me. Full ones will have lumps where the seeds are.
-
Tom, I was thinking immature or poor development. Mature honey locust pods are about 12" long and have a sweet taste to them. Deer love honey locust pods.

As the others said good old Ky coffe tree, bark resembles light colored pecan. Split the hull fire roast the seeds and grind brew and enjoy. Take from a feller from Ky not to bad.

Just did some Googling, and I stand corrected. The Honey Locust is more narrow and long, that is a Ky. Coffee bean pod. Interesting since we don't have them around our parts. Maybe because they are Kentucky Coffee Bean pods.
-
Well im in virginia and the inside looks like a bunch of yellow dried goo thats rock hard.

Honey Locust is a plant from Hxxx!!!!! if ya see on one time it will leave a lasting impression on ya...and no tree hugger would EVER hug one...ever....lol
