Anyone ever thought to have backed a bow with onion skin under poly??? Was making dinner tonight and was amazed at how thick some of the onion skins were....I know weird...But hey, that is how I roll......May try a piec on a flexible piece of wood to see if it has any merit..I'll keep ya posted...Thoughts????

I've always wondered about backing one with Processed Cheese slices. I don't know what it is but it gets tough when you leave it in the sun.

processed cheese is only like one molecule away from being plastic so it may not fit into this forum, the mods may need to remove your comment !

No really, thing about id. Contoured strands in the onion skin, just like linen. Flexible when whet like snake skin...and pretty dursble over all. It protects the onion under ground....and it is about as Native and Abo as one could get....I'm going to try it.....

;) ;D ;D ;D ;D I needed that this morning Eddie,you won't do. ;D ;D

No, but i have thought about using milk and vinegar for tip overlays.

You must have tougher onions where you are.......I do use them to make a wood stain for arrows.Very natural color. Good luck ' Frank

Cheese also comes in wheels. Definitely cause to be banned!

WOW!!!!!!! ;D

The problem is onions are predominantly water. Even when you think they're dried, they still have a ways to go yet to be fully dry. Not to mention instead of a stickbow, you'll eventually have a stinkbow.

I am trying to work out some funny line about magical properties and a buffalo taking a "leek" on it. Never mind.

I hope you ant taking this wrong Mohawk,we are just having some fun at your expence, ;) ;D but as you stated in the opening, Kind of odd idea. :) :) JW it is going to be hard to beat Eddie's cheese thing even tho I know you are trying. ;) ;D ;D ;D

of course it would be purely for visual effect, its also an odd idea to back a bow with turkey feathers, but its been done and looked really cool, go for it.

If you use cheese or onion for bow backing you could always naw on the upper limb if you get hungry while hunting!!
-
Funny responses...I was thinking more along the lines of the tough outer skins, not the part you use for cooking. Heck in TBB1 they mention using paper bags...Was just an odd thought....After all our ancestors probably wondered the same thing about sinew, snake skins...et all....Creative thinking breeds innovation....
And some of you guys have a great sense of humor.... :)

Yeah, SOME of us. >:(
Pappy is right. We tend to hand out some ribbing in here, all in good fun (mostly). It's good to know you are taking it in stride. Be sure to keep a little black book list of those that served it out to you and return the favor for them some time!

I don't keep track. I am a member of the clergy, so I let it roll of My back..It is nice to see that even an odd idea can elicit a response....

Don't let them brow beat you, Go for it. ;) Besides, it would be a built in cover scent. providing you were hunting in an onion field. But it could entice them to see just what that strange, sort of French smelling odor is.......now if you added Eddies' cheese....... you would have a delicious survival bow. :P ;) Good for you for turning the other cheek, and letting it all roll off. Being a member of the Clergy, you have to choose your words, carefully, so you could show them your forgiveness by offering to perform a marriage ceremony for their parents. ::) ;D ;D

Oh stickbreaker, ya got me! Right in the gizzard!

Sorry J.W. my aim was off a tad. ::) Are you getting snow in S.D? Thompson Falls has been getting some off and on. It doesn't last long though.

Nope, just a lot of wind.

Onion, Cheese!!!!!!! Hmm? splendid idea! ::) Butter and toast a little reflex, deflex to it and add fat oil finish. Now just imagine the, say 15 year recipe. Remember the moldy bread a few years back with the so called image of Jesus? It sold for how much? Now this my friends could turn out to be like the biblical totem of the computer age or who knows the possibilities as of yet. This could be like the first billion dollar bow ever. ::)
