Very clean back

That looks like something that Blackhawk or Matt Wirwiki would tackle. Maybe they will chime in with some suggestions.
-
yeah I would ask blackhawk. I'm sure he will tell you to make a bow with a setback handle considering it's his favorite design.
-
I'd take it down to floor tiller size and use heat to even it up. It will take a few sessions for a bend like that but it can be done.
...or you could just g ahead and tiller it out as it is. ::)
-
What's the length?
-
About 60 inches long

The spot is right where about mid limb wil be I'm wondering if bending to be even could damage the wood at all On the compression side ?
-
The heat actually strengthens the wood a bit like tempering it. I've straightened some pretty crooked osage and never had a problem with the wood because of it. Take it slow and only work a little at a time. Let it cool completely before starting the next session. Don't force it too much at a time.
-
Rough out the bow then put it on a cawl with some heat and clamps then iron it out like a shirt. Then pray!

Lol Will do
-
Hell id leave the dog leg. Yeah a bit of a tricky tiller, but super BA.
-
I'm with Bryce. I'd just make the bow. Test my skills. Test my tillering/timing knowledge. Test my eye. Challenge and reward baby.
-
Okay I guess I will just rough it out an see if I want to just leave it or not I have plenty of wood for a stiff handle but I may go bendy handle anyways
-
I'd cut it off at the kink and join it with another good half.
-
I like me an occasional wonky stave but, ....dang man. It is osage though so who know what shape you might be able to form it into once thinned down a bunch. I do wanna see what you do with it Joe, ought to be interesting.
-
Looks like a Stoneberg stave lol >:D
-
The back looks real clean. If it was mine I would also work to floor tiller and then straighten with heat.

You can bet it will probably be an odd bow and I'm gonna try my best to get a nice one from it lol
-
I would use it for plains bows, I see about 3 staves (belly splits). I would cut it down, so the kink becomes a natural set back handle.
Second idea: split it, use it as billets, cut off a piece from the short side and you get a nice pair of billets with a kinda natural static recurve
-
Floor tiller and straighten as others have said, I have straightened worse than
that many times. :) If it is clean you can do most anything you want with it. :)

Some good answers there for ya,but haven't seen this one yet.....how bout selling, trading,or giving it away and pick a better piece of wood 8)
-
Steam and clamp to the caul.

Don't think you'll get a bow outta that without some heat correction.
-
Rough it out and heat some of the kink out.

;D lol hmm

Personally, I'd cut it into 10" x 2" x 3/4" strips and use them for handle glue ups. ;)
-
Floor tiller and heat like was said above. Jawge
