Title: Hickory Backings
Post by: Ink on February 13, 2014, 08:05:53 pm
Recently came into some hickory and was wondering. For a hickory backing, is the piece of hickory quarter sawn or one isolated ring from the tree? I have never laminated anything and am just curious.

Either.

I would say quarter sawn would yield you more backings and be more economical then trying to chase every ring of the log though! I think rift sawn is good too, anything with straight grain and little run off is usable.
