I decided not to bring up the last dp knives post since it was a while ago.
This is not a true home made knife. My Father-in-Law's buddy heard I'd been making knives and gave me this blade and scales. I think they are micarta. I stuck them together, copper pinned and shaped. Scratched them lines in there too.
Made the sheath on Friday night/Saturday morn and cut it about an 1/8" to shy for comfort so I wrapped the knife up in masking tape, plastic and masking tape, wet the sheath in a mason of warm water til saturated and slid it in. Used two wooden butter knives to fold/crease then Stuck by the wood stove, dry, not a hot spot and waited til morning. today. snow sealed too. Youngest boy has dibs since black is his favorite color, but I'll use it til he's old enough. He's 6 now. ;)
Thanks for lookin, replies are nice, dp

nice one Derik.
-
Thanks Kevin and Steve.
Forgot got mention that I was unhappy w/ the imitation sinew color and my Indian buddy said to use a sharpie. My boy told me that using a sharpie and dying it were essentially the same, so I felt better about it.

Nice job Derik. I like that blade.
-
nice, is that real Damascus or laser etched
-
Nice knife. I like how slim it is..
-
Thanks for the replies y'all.
Bubby, I think its real Damascus. It got a touch of rust on it from being in the wet sheath and when I 3M'ed it some of the black buffed out, but it still looked like Damascus were it was "polished". Is there an easy way to tell?
M13, The slim design has had me in a conundrum, could't tell if I liked it or not, it feels good in the hand. I felt like I shoulda used some shims or something to thicken it a bit though. Glad you like it.
Thanks for the comments, always like comments!! dp

Thanks Pappy! I do know how you like knives. ;D I feel like my knife posts aren't complete w/o a reply from you because of that too. Not sure about "down pat", but I'm working it out. Got one knife to finish and two sheaths to make before posting again. Real home made knives next time.
Appreciate it, dpgratz
