Here's a little bow I'm working on for a friend of mine. He wanted something short that draws and shoots smoothly, and he wanted it to be "Indian looking." ::) So I went through the pictures in my bowyers bible and this is the design I picked. Granted this is not a replica I didn't follow the specs to a T. Just the basic design is the same. Its 54" ntn and pulls about 50#@26" which is his draw length. It seems to shoot pretty snappy and it draws sweet. I will post a full draw later when I finish it. I tillered the set back handle to slightly open up at full draw. :)
Oh ya, and check out how this bow could be a twin sister to (Mullets) Eddie's Bow. I tried to put them side by side in the one picture we will see if it worked. :o Nope Sorry you'll have to go back to his twisted sister thread to compare. Thats just weird!

-
I love the colors on this bow. It reminds me of a coral snake. Justin
-
Are their Coral snakes from the East coast to the West? We do have a few around here but their not as plentiful as they were when I was a kid. I've only actually seen one in my lifetime and it may have been a garter snake. What's that old saying: Black touches yellow kill a fellow, I can't remember how it goes :).
-
Red on black friend to Jack, Red on yellow kill a fellow. At least that is how I learned it. Justin
-
Congratulations Ryan on the new daughter,I hope your wife is doing good too.
Coral snake is, Red on black friend of Jack. Red on yeller' kill a feller', or one more white shirt will do ya,.
-
I knew it was somthing like that. Red on yelller "kill a feller" that shouldn't be hard to remember :). What's that one more white shirt'll do ya though?..
-
Paul, A nice pressed, starched ,shirt, While they view you in the coffin. :-\
-
Thanks everybody for the complements on the bow and the baby girl !
-
love the bow! like the way the grain comes through the red. congrats on the little girl, mine is getting married on feb. 2nd, just seems like yesterday she was a baby, cherish the time together it goes by fast
-
Congratulations on the new addition to the family Ryan - that's awesome!
-
Just caught the new baby daughter post!! :) Congratulations to you and your's Ryan!!!!
Looks like you been making more than bows!!! ;) ;D
-
Ryan, Great job on that one. All your bows look great. I like the quiver too. How do you like the indian style quiver? I had a buddy make me one up and it still needs a strap. I have some cordage on it right now and it just does'nt seem to hang right any suggestions? Danny
-
RyanO, That's a beautiful bow! I like the hole in the limb and I like your quiver too. Great work :) Joe H
-
Thanks guys! Being a new Dad is great. The quiver was made by the guy I made the bow for. Yes, I really like the quiver, I just don't leave my arrows in it when not shooting any more, it tends to make them warp a little.
-
Very cool bow Ryan!, and congratulations ;D on the new addition to the family! I still remember it like it was yesterday..3 times...
Rich
-
Nice bow Ryan, I like the shorter indian style bow, I have made several and plan many more. they just have nice lines.
VB
-
Thanks Rich and vb. ;D
-
I'm very new to this, but It looks like you didn't follow growth rings on the back of the bow. I thought you have to?
-
Very nice brother.. you have tallent... hope you make meat with that setup... Hawk.. a/ho
-
Bowkill, it is all one growth ring on the back......The picture that shows the close up of the limb with hole is the belly side of the bow.
Thanks Hawkbow.
-
What kind of dye did you use for those limbs, i love the colors. It is a beautiful bow. Ty
-
OK that exlpains it. Thanks. I'm going to try a bow similar to yours in the near future.
-
Ty, The red is alcohol based stain from three rivers archery its called "Mojave red" and the black is alcohol based black leather dye.
-
Coral snake.
Red on yellow, kill a fellow.
Beautiful work.
-
Congradulations again on the birth of your daughter Ryan. I expect at 8 weeks ya'll have settled into a routine. Hope all is well.
-
Thanks Guys. David, every thing is going great with Molly. Are you comming to the classic this year? We'll be there baby and all thurday morning some time.
-
Outstanding Ryan. Hope to see Molly and ya'll at the Classic. It's dicy timing wise for me. I'll be just finishing up 5 weeks of radiation treatments for colon cancer, complete with a chemo "pump" you wear in a fanny pack 24/7. With any luck I'll be off the pump by that Friday, and feel good enough for the trip. It's cutting close, but that's what I'm shooting for. Good to hear ya'll are game for the travel. We played pretty close to home the first few months when our Katherine was born.
-
Ouch, sorry to hear about your health problems David. :'( We will be thinking about you. I hope every thing goes well and you have a speedy recovery. :) If you don't make it this year we would all surely understand....you need to rest and get your self better, and we will all plan on seeing y'all next year.
Molly is a great baby, she's so easy, it shouldn't be any problem at all for us to come down there. She pretty much just sleeps when she's in her car seat. She turned two months old today, its hard to believe how much she has grown already, and cute as all get out!
-
Great Job! love the artwork.
-
Great looking bow, the dye job that you did on it really sets it off. Being new at P.A. I really hope with time I can turn out a bow that nice.
