This is a bow that has been messing with me on the tiller.  It is pulling 45#@24" but I will work it out to 26.  The top tip looks a little stiff to me but there is a couple of knots there.  Front few is pyramidal and about 60" long.

It looks to me like the upper limb is stiffer than the bottom, and like I'd weaken the upper limb in the outermost parts.

I want to see that cluster of pin knots better ;)

So you hit the image button and paste the image url between the middle brackets.

That link might get you in trouble, I clicked it and it took me to advertisements.

Use the IMG code for pics from photobucket

I think the outer thirds on this bow ( with a parallel limg desing ) need to work a little more an the the whole top limb in it self,

really nice bow! i like it!

I agree, get the top (outer) caught up with the bottom.  Shouldn't take much.  Looks like it has a sweet shape to it.

If the stave was dead straight to start with then it's bending too much inner lower limb. The upper's shape is good. Until you get the mid and outer lower limb bending more (to reduce the stress on the inner) keep the upper 'as is' shape-wise. O#r at least that's what i'd do. Also keep a very close eye on the set. This tells you without doubt where it needs reducing  :)

Here are a couple more pics.  The bottom limb has a little whoopdy do right after the fade.  It has hardly taken any set.  Maybe 1/2"

Ah ha! That explains the lower limb.
It's looking good. I would shoot 50 arrows out of it now and see if it changes. If not i'd probably use a file and then sandpaper to get out to full draw.
Like I said watch the set - this tells you everything from now on out. Remeber the golden rule. No set in the inner limbs a little mid limb and moist from mid limb out to the tips.

Nice work, Matt. Locust is my nemesis so I'm always glad to see a beautifully completed locust bow.

Thanks Pat.  I have only made one other one out of this tree and I wasn't happy with it.  This time I am.  This stave has really tight growth ring so I wasn't sure how it would react.   All in all I am very happy with locust :),   ::)
