Title: Crazy start to the week. (Deer hunting with my truck)
Post by: Gsulfridge on January 20, 2014, 08:47:52 am
Had a great start to the week >:(. Went out to check my traps this morning, and hit not one, but two deer with my truck!!  And, when I eventually got to my trapline, two of my traps were stolen.  I'm madder than a mashed cat. Appears to be no damage to my truck, so I'm lucky I guess.  Took one doe home too, so got some deer meat outta the deal.  Could have been worse.  Still pissed tho.

Friday of last week while driving to work in the dark, after a late night w/ the wife, I almost hit a deer, had to swerve and all, then 10 minutes later a doe ran into the side of my car tearing off the drivers side rear view mirror.  No meat, no traps stolen, hard to back up, fun night w/ the wife though.  ;) Sucks about the traps. dp

I wasnt hurt, nor my truck.  So, I should consider myself lucky, I guess.  It does suck about the traps, tho.  Both were new, and with my ID tag affixed to them.  Some people  >:(

Sorry to hear about the traps and glad your truck is okay, but, what's wrong with hunting with a truck?

The truck does a lot of damage to the deer and also is rough on fences and lawn furniture if the deer gets outta the road!! :D

Trap thieves, there's lowlife everywhere it seems.

How many feet per second are you getting otta that truck? ???
Have you run it through the chronograph yet to see how it's really preforming? :o
Hi test might improve your accuracy. ::)
Good tread on the tires for better traction when they run up on to your neighbors lawn. ;)

Glad to hear your safe and no damage to the truck.

Kevin

LOL The first year I had my brand new Dodge I hit a deer with it and smashed the grill and front bumper.

Glad you and your truck weren't damaged, but the thievin' of your traps has got my blood near to a boil.  When I was thirteen, my buddy and I had a pretty sizable trapline going.  We started with four 330's and a couple no. 2 double coil victors.  Every penny we made went back into more traps and such.  Just before the end of season, a local poacher stole every conibear we had and our Jon boat!  His cousin was the sheriff, so not only did we not get our traps and boat back, we got in trouble for driving underage to run our line.  I hated that man til the day he died!  I know that's not right, but I still get mad thinking about it.  I hope you get your traps back.  Josh
