I finished this about two weeks ago. I like how this one turned out. The stain on the rawhide looks nice. This could be a new hunting bow for me this spring when turkey season starts. It shoots where I look and has decent cast. It has some string follow when unbraced but settles out to about an inch of string follow. I dont know if this is common of hickory. This is my first hickory bow.

Wow! Great looking bow.Good luck during turkey season.

Ryan,
Yes it's tough to keep hickory from taking some set, though it's good tension wood. I have to stay at around 68" and wide with a deep heat treat to maintain any reflex. For the dimensions You posted Your results are outstanding 8)...Good work and good luck with the Turkey, hope you score!

You've made yourself a nice bow there.
Not all hickory is the same. It all likes moisture it seems. Getting it dried properly and sealed good is key for hickory. I've made some really fast hickory bows. Pignut is my favorite of what I have tried so far.
