I had an old hatchet head laying around and decided to put a handle on it. I made the handle from a piece of firewood that my buddy found on the side of the street. I'm not sure what wood it is but it smells like maple so I will go with that. I stained it with a cherry stain and finished it with some poly. Ironically, I carved the handle using another hatchet ;)

Well that didnt last long. Time for another new one. This time not from a piecce of fire wood. Any suggestions?

Get ya a pc of hickory or ash ;D I make mine out of the hickory firewood pile.

Iron Wood (Hop Hornbeam) makes a good tool handle. Bob
