The thread about "how did you find PA" got me wondering, how many of the original members of the old forum that crashed and burned in the early 2000s are still around? I still see several of you, but there are a lot of missing people from those days. I wonder whatever happened to River Rat, Ehkahk, Dano, and many others?
-
I'm still here. Dano is on Facebook, and River rat disappeared when he got mixed up mwith Tara, I think.
-
Got nothing better to do anyways. So I still hang around here. I do miss the gun-slinging days though........Art

I was not a part of it but when I would travel to an area that had internet I would try to see what you folks were up to !
Then they blocked me from seeing the Pics and I gave it up !
I know for sure there are still a few more of you around and it is good to have you Here !
Thanks for all you have done For this great addiction !

I remember the old forum but i dont think i was a member yet. There was a time when you had to be a subscriber to see pics as i recall.. I used to see Dano at Mojam( and his "lemonade") but havent seen him there for atleast a couple yrs....Brian
-
Still around, sure have had a lot of good times here. Kenneth
-
Those were fun times.

I really enjoyed the discussions we had back then. We were always looking for ways to improve the bow. Not all that much room for improvement but there is some.
-
I see there are still a few here but which Dano are we talking about here. The old Dano from the original PA board disappeared some 10 years ago, I don't think he ever made it to this board. The same with Tony (river rat) and Alberto (zioalby). I think they left before this board was set up. Maybe someday we will see them come back
-
I still talk to Dano. He lived 4 houses down from me for almost 20 years and I first met him on line here.
-
The other Dano is Dan Grens. He was a regular on TradGang before he came over to PA. I met him a few years ago at ATAR and shared one of his lemonades with him. :o I have 2 of this Dano's osage bows.
The original Dano skipped out with a back quiver I made for something we were doing back then.
-
Still kicking. Sure have a lot came and gone since then. :)

Yeah, I think the original Dano's name was Darren. I had about forgotton about Alberto from Italy, he used to make some fine bows.

Actually Pat it was a community kit of bow, arrows and quiver and I think a few of us worked on the bow and quiver. I think the quiver was one of Birch bark which I started, I may be confusing this one with the next community kit we made though, and then passed on to someone, might have been you. The bow was one of Osage that was made by a guy, I don't remember his name now, that used to like make Osage bows with character, some had pretty massive knot holes in the limbs. I think he was in Florida.

Yes I do believe his first name was Darren and his last name was Higginson, spelling might be off there. Then there was Gary from BC, I think Glenn might remember him. Gary was a bit of a character but made some nice laminate bows, I don't think I've seen him for a dozen years or so. He lit into Glenn at one point for shooting a Fox and then turned around and started posting about a Bear hunt he and his friend had taken that had not turned out so well. Crazy times
-
" Darren Higgens". I miss Dano. I wish he hadn't disappeared as I feel I owe him something for the Osage he sent me.
I think he disappeared shortly before the board was closed down unless you had a subscription.
I well remember the arguments with Gary about his ethical road hunting practices. lol
-
I still have a piece of Osage that I got from Dano not long before he disappeared
-
Marc, the quiver I was talking about was a veg tanned back quiver with elk hair trim around the top. I remember the birch bark quiver also.
-
I remember Darren saying a tornado ate the bow, quiver, and all of the arrows before he disappeared. That was the first community bow I contributed to. The guy from Florida was named Russel. I bought a lot of his osage before he left and rescued some that Alberto had already paid for. I think he lives in Washington or Oklahoma, now.
-
That doesn't sound like the Dano I remember.
-
Eddie
I remember Dano telling me much the same thing. The guy I was talking about was Chris Tindall, I believe his username was Bow Kin and Russel's username was Bowmonkey
-
Eddie, I think I added a snake skin to that first community Bow. It was sinew backed osage. The first sinew backed bow I ever shot. If I remember right it was a bit of a dog. ::)
Boy, those names take me way back.
Dano seemed like a really nice guy if I remember correctly but then he disappeared.
-
Yeah, I had some arrows in that set. Mark, those are the other two guys I was about to post about-BowKinn and BowMonk. I remember the big flap over the Mirkwood bows that Russell was making and the name and design got mysteriously appropriated by another bowyer. :o :-X BowKinn had the trademark of shirtless full-draw pics. I remember he killed a deer once with a bow he was working on and didn't even have finished up yet, and his story about killing a deer with a slingshot.
-
Oh yes, Chris and his slingshots. He killed just about everything with those slingshots of his, at least that was the impression he gave
-
Didnt em boys start havin wimmin troubles?
Seems like ta me,it was an episode of Jerry Springer, werent it?LOL
-
Yea, When I went to buy the osage from Russel he was living in a mini-warehouse where he was making bows. His new Filipino wife had him thrown out of his house and had a restraining order against him.
-
It was the same with Chris. Left one for another then in less than a year was having trouble with the new one. Maybe they watched too many of Jerry's shows.
I bought a mess of stuff from Rusell when he was having trouble and closing shop, can't say it was top grade material. So far as I remember he was the first one to make/post a bow made with floor laminate Bamboo.
-
I bought a roughed out osage recurve that was already bent, got it shooting with no finish, shot it at Elberton in 2004, met PatB. Then came home and finished it and tied for BOM in the first color BOM issue. It's still my go to bow. I also got a roughed out yew set in take-down handles I finished and traded for Fly rod gear. He was supposed to have sold me his big 12" wide belt sander, gave him some money to hold it and let him finish some bows and he sold it to someone in North Florida, I think BowKinn or David Knight. I was pissed.
-
Elberton was one of my favorite shoots(except for the seed ticks ::) ) and now I know why. I met Eddie there. ;D
-
Seems like all I done back then was make arrows for you fellows ;)..............Art
-
And I thank you for it, Sir. :)
-
You're welcome! ;D Had to do something with all those experimental rejects, LOL!

How many saved any posts as complete pages from the old forum? I saved quite a few and most actually still open. Most of the pages had to do with posts I had started but there is the odd page from other members, one in particular being Alberto's horn bow.
