Title: 3 bows 3 brothers
Post by: bowmo on December 02, 2013, 04:11:49 pm
Had a customer from 2007 get ahold of me after all these years looking to get 3 bows for his now grown sons so they would stop stealing his. This is the first of the 3 with the other two close to finish as well. Haven't built a bow in a year or two but it's like riding bike apparently. This one is 55 pounds at 28 inches, 62 inches ntn and backed with deer hide. A slightly overbuilt version of what I make for myself. More to come.

Nice tips. What are they made of? They look like there is a few laminations.

Thanks guys. I will probably post a full draw at some point.

The overlays have a little wedge of walnut in them. The stave has had them on it for years, probably because I wanted to use up extra epoxy. But since i like the overlay to be glued over the rawhide a tiny bit so the string can't rip it off when unstringing I ground most of the walut off and added a little stripe of maple and some tan horn.

Yep squashed for me as well!
I was looking at it thinking man that's short and a really deep handle! You can still tell she's a beauty though  :)

This bow looks about as good as it gets, can tell by the braced and resting profiles that that baby is gonna look great at full draw. Very nicely crafted in all aspects.
