Title: question about bolts

i got some GREEN podarosa that is tight ringed....should i seal the ends...i havent done this and its more of a project for me...if i asked the same question before SORRY ABOUT THIS...thanks john

John, I'd treat it just like bow wood. Split the round at least in half and seal the ends. You will get more stable arrows with well seasoned wood so give your billets plenty of time to season.  I guess I'm assuming you are talking about making arrows.

hey pat,i think i can get some old paint and seal the ends...i just havent herd of people sealing the end of bolts BUT i guess it would be like billets or staves...

John, if the wood is straight grain you could leave them unsealed. They will check but if you are splitting them out you could use those checks to start your splits.
